Well, every comm needs an intro/rules post, so this is ours.
What
last_best_hope is:
We're a comm for fans of Babylon 5, who want a place to chatter, argue, squee, and just generally be fannish with other fans as we watch our way through the series together. The primary purpose of this comm is an organized communal rewatch, roughly one episode per week, but I named the thing
last_best_hope instead of B5_rewatch because I want to be flexible and leave room for other fannish stuff.
What other stuff? Anything B5, really. Or even anything tangentially B5. If you run across a hilarious YouTube fanvid about Centauri mating rituals, if you corner JMS at a comic con and he tells you the secret history of Z'ha'dum, if you find some interview with Walter Koenig about some upcoming movie, go ahead and post! If you pick up one of the books and want to do a review, go ahead and post! If you grab one of the comics in a quarter bin somewhere and photoshop the dialog in hilarious ways, go ahead and post! We're here to be fannish, so be fannish!
By the same token, we're all nerds here and this ain't TWoP, we all wanna geek about everything and we don't care if you're on topic. If an episode discussion derails into some epic 300-comment thread about Roslin's airlock technique or why Holmes/Moriarty is the best ship ever or how to knit a tea cozy, that is what threaded comments are for. Go to it.
What to expect from your mod:
Y'all know me, I'm capricious and unreliable, it's why I don't generally volunteer to do this kind of thing. I'm pretty hands-off and I don't even like freezing threads, so mostly you're on your own. So behave. But y'all also know me, I'm Ms Kill-The-Kyriarchy-With-Fire, so don't be too shocked if you use a homophobic insult and discover your ass is banned next time you try posting. At any rate, feel free to PM me if there's something you think needs addressing.
What your mod expects from you:
Think.
Don't insult each other.
Remember that your perspective is not everybody's perspective.
Have fun.
That's all I got, folks. Welcome aboard.
